Blossoms will run away -
Cakes reign but a day.
But memory like melody,
Is pink eternally

Valley of the dolls

Here is the score from the famous 1967 movie The valley of the dolls, written by Bob Guadio and Jacqueline Susann.
“The only authorized title song” says the label and yet the song – co-written by the author of the book – does not appear in the film. That honor went to Dionne Warwick, with the title song written by André and Dory Previn. The Arbors released their version of the Susann-Gaudio song later the same year.
Kathy Keegan was a nightclub singer who made occasional TV appearances. Discwise, her most consistent stint was on Don Costa’s DCP label, beginning in 1964 with a Teddy Randazzo song, A different kind of love. An album followed entitled When you’re young and in love, with the Van McCoy song as the title track.
In 1966, Kathy was with ABC, opening her account with You sent me silver bells / A study in terror; both sides co-written by Teddy Randazzo.
She made several other albums.
Valley of the dolls on Compass was her last recording.
Enjoy her great rendition!

And here is the Dionne Warwick version.
